CCJS Congratulates Kenny Cole on His Induction into the Morgan County Sports Hall of Fame
CCJS is proud to celebrate one of our own. Attorney Kenny Cole has been named to the Morgan County Sports Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026, and as first reported by The Decatur Daily, he’ll be formally inducted at a banquet at the Cook Museum of Natural Science in Decatur on June 20.

Long before he was arguing cases, Kenny was making a name for himself on the football field. His family settled in Decatur in 1973 after his father retired from the Army, and Kenny spent all four years of high school as a Red Raider, later graduating as valedictorian of Decatur High’s Class of 1977. Playing nose guard under Hall of Fame coach Earl Webb, he built a reputation for outworking everyone around him, helping lead Decatur to a region championship his senior year and earning All-State, Super All-State, and All-American honors in the process.

That same work ethic followed him to Vanderbilt University, where he moved to linebacker and earned SEC All-Academic recognition. A back injury eventually ended his playing days, but it pointed him toward something new: Vanderbilt Law School, where he earned his degree in 1984 and launched the career that’s defined the decades since.
Kenny’s law career actually started on the other side of the courtroom, at a corporate defense firm in Houston. Before long, though, he made the switch to representing everyday people and families instead of the companies he’d once defended — a decision that’s shaped the kind of attorney he’s been ever since. As he put it himself, the fourth-quarter mindset football taught him is the same one he brings to his clients every day.
It’s that competitive instinct, honed on the field at Decatur High and Vanderbilt, that now goes to work for the people he represents at CCJS. Whether it’s a family fighting a corporation that cut corners on safety or an individual seeking accountability after an injury, Kenny brings the same refusal to back down that made him a standout decades ago.
The whole team at CCJS couldn’t be prouder to see Kenny’s contributions — on the field and in the courtroom — recognized in this way. Join us in congratulating him on a well-earned honor.
